MassHOPE NEWS

Homeschool Convention: "The Harvest Is Coming"

MassHOPE's 23rd annual Christian Homeschool & Family Discipleship Convention happened on April 26 - 28, 2012 at the DCU Center and the Hilton Garden Inn in Worcester, Mass. You missed a great time if you weren't there. Visit our convention page for all the details about inspiring speakers, informative workshops, Children's Program, Teen Track, a huge exhibit hall, and more. Make plans now to be at next year's convention, scheduled for April 26 & 27, 2013.

High School Graduation:

Formal Graduation Ceremony (cap & gown)

This year's formal graduation will be held at Holden Chapel in Holden, Massachusetts on June 9, 2012. Last year's was our biggest ever. If you want to be a part of this year's celebration, contact us at graduation@masshope.org.

Graduate Recognition Ceremony (at the convention)

The homeschool convention's graduate recognition ceremony was held at the DCU Center on Friday evening on April 27, 2012. Fifteen graduates participated.

Used Curriculum Sale:

Plans for the July 28, 2012 Used Curriculum Sale are in the formative stages. It's one of the highlights of our year as hundreds of homeschoolers seek out bargains for the next school year. Every year thousand of items, including loads of free ones, find new homes. Plan to be there at the Chapel of the Cross in Westboro, conveniently located near the Massachusetts Turnpike, route 495, and route 9.

CRITICAL ISSUES

Parental Rights:

This is an issue of great importance to homeschoolers everywhere.  Parental rights are increasingly threatened as more members of our judiciary begin to take cues from international law and custom.  These are decidedly unfriendly to homeschooling. For more information and to join the battle to preserve parental rights, please visit  www.parentalrights.org.

Charter Schools:

MassHOPE opposes any federal or state funding initiatives to support charter schools or other types of “public school at home” programs.  Such programs undermine total educational freedom of parents. For further information on this subject, we suggest the DVD "The Trojan Horse" which explains these programs from our perspective. The DVD is available for $7 from MassHOPE. Order by mail from MassHOPE, 46 South Road, Holden, MA 01520 or call us at 508-829-0973.
